I started out by detangling and sectioning my hair into four parts. I then coated the length of my hair with GVP Silk Remedy that I got from Sally's (it's supposed to compare with CHI Silk Infusion) and Roux Porosity Control to protect from relaxer runoff. I planned to begin with the back half (doing the half and half relaxer method that I've used before). I placed metal duckbill clips along the horizontal part between the front and back half to separate the front section of my hair. I clipped the two front sections with butterfly clips and covered with a plastic clap.
Used metal clips to separate front half |
Clips help to keep plastic cap in place |
Next I relaxed the front half in the same manner, first making sure that my hair was not damp from working on the back half. Since I am texlaxing, I was almost worried that I'd left the relaxer on too long. The roots in the back half seemed to be straighter than I expected, but I'm hoping to see some reversion there after my next wash.
I deep conditioner using my ORS Curls Unleashed under my heating cap for several hours. I fell asleep wearing the heat cap then I just took it off and went on to bed. When I rinsed again my hair felt so soft and smooth. After rinsing the DC I t-shirt dried for maybe 30 min and then applied Darcy Daily Leave In and Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. I allowed my hair to air dry with my silk scarf tied around my edges and then ended up pulling it into a bun.
Looks a little thicker and fuller than usual :-) |
How was your most recent relaxer touch-up? Do you self relax and if so what's your method?
Thanks
for reading,
Andrea
You know, I never thought to add Roux Porosity control to my hair to prevent relaxer run-off. That was very smart! Your bun looks nice and full and I am glad all went well with your touch up!
ReplyDeleteThank you! The idea to apply the Roux Porosity Control I picked up from Jeni at Just Grow Already. I never skip this step. :)
DeleteCongrats on making it almost 3 months!!! You're a stretching master now!

Thanks, KLP! It's starting to seem easy breezy now! :)
DeleteYou have definitely mastered the half and half method! Knowing myself I wouldn't be able to do it in one sitting probably over two days or one day split in half with a break in between one half in the morning and the other half towards the evening lol
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I know I was dreading getting started after I got home from work because I knew I'd be up ALL night. I may have to split it up next time. lol
DeleteHair is looking good. Keep us updated on your nape progress!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Neisha! I'm planning on doing another length check and also a check on my nape progress after my next relaxer.I'm hoping the comparison with the last nape check will be more obvious after a few more months. I know its growing but it seems SO slow...or I'm just impatient! lol. I just joined the Full and Healthy Crown & Edges Challenge on the Long Hair Care Forum too for some extra support. Grow Nape Grow! Think I might make this my new blog title! Ha ha!
DeleteGirl, Ive been eyeing that Elasta QP… I might just pick it up. Also, how do you clip your ends?
ReplyDeleteI didn't clip my ends. I just twisted them and "hoped" they did not unravel...and fortunately they didn't. LOL! The first time I did this method I used the metal clips on my ends but they just kept getting in the way so I don't use them anymore.
DeleteThe Elasta QP shampoo is not so bad. The first time I ever used it, it felt kind of drying even though it says Ultra Hydration on the bottle. When I used it after the ORS Creamy Aloe my hair did not feel dry this time. I really just wanted to see if the lather would turn pink.
Thanks for commenting! :)
Nice :) Looking healthy!
