Battle of the Detangler Brushes

I was originally only going to do a comparisons of the Tangle Wrangler Brush versus the Felicia Leatherwood Detangling Brush but then I remembered the Michel Mercier brush that I purchased maybe some time last year and decided to share my thoughts on it as well. Although, you may already know what I think of the Michel Mercier brush, given that I forgot I even had it. LOL

Michel Mercier Detangler Brush

Price - $14.99
I purchased this brush from Walgreens. I think it was an As Seen On TV product. I was skeptical about it at first and hesitated to purchase it, but I gave in. It puts me in the mind of the Tangle Teezer that everyone raved about at one point because of the multiple bristle lengths.  The first time I used this brush I was not very happy with it. It was not the magic detangler that I thought it would be, but I did try to use it on my hair while lathered with shampoo; something I definitely don't do anymore unless it's a good detangling shampoo.  When I revisited I used this brush on conditioned hair. It was not as bad but I need to brush in much smaller sections for fear of causing breakage.  This was my least favorite of the three. I was also put off by one of their ads that I found on YouTube. I'll let you see for yourself if you take a look at the video.

The Tangle Wrangler vs. Felicia Leatherwood Detangler Brush

Tangler Wrangler:
Price - $4.99 at Tractor Supply Co.
           $0. 95 plus $4.74 shipping on
You guys may have seen this little brush floating around the internet. I did purchase this brush at my local Tractor Supply Store for $4.99 plus tax. This brush is used for grooming horses. Yes, it's a brush for horses!

Felicia Leatherwood Detangler Brush:
Price -  $16.00 plus ~$7.00 shipping
I actually received this brush in a CurlBox Dope Deal that I purchased a few months ago for $25.00. The deal included this brush and 3 other full size products.  I had been eyeing this brush but didn't want to pay the regular price plus the shipping which I believe was about $7.00; so I took advantage of the opportunity to try it for much cheaper with this CurlBox deal.

If you take a look at the image you can see that the Tangle Wrangler and the Felicia Leatherwood brush have a similar design. They are somewhat like mini combs with spaces in between. The idea is that the rows bend and snap back when there is a tangle. Both are said to be gentle and easy to use on your hair.

I actually purchased the Tangle Wrangler before I got the F.L. brush.  I was watching a rod set tutorial on YouTube and saw the brush that the vlogger used. When I asked she told me that she had purchased it at some time ago. It was no longer in stock, but I was able to find it at my local Tractor Supply Co.  I really like the Tangle Wrangler. I think it does as promised. It is flexible and very gentle on my hair. I used it on my conditioner saturated hair and I was in love at first use.

The Felicia Leatherwood also works well for my hair.  I do like that it has two more rows or "mini combs"(9 rows) as compared to the Tangle Wrangler (7 rows). I feel like I can detangle in larger sections because of this. I will say that the original design of the F.L. brush looked exactly like the Tangle Wrangler, but she has made some improvements to the design including the wider brush handle.  The F.L. brush is actually a harder plastic than the Tangle Wrangler so not as flexible, which defeats the purpose of the design of the mini combs with spaces in my opinion, but I still like the brush nonetheless.

And the winner is.....

The Tangle Wrangler is the best of the three in my opinion. My mom likes it too. It is gentle, effective, and affordable.  The Felicia Leatherwood detangler brush is also effective, but it is not very flexible as you would think and it is highly over-priced in my opinion.  If you have been wanting to try this brush but don't want to pay the high price, I don't think you would be disappointed with the Tangle Wrangler brush.  I do use the F.L. brush more often only because I feel I'm able to detangle faster with this brush, but once it's on it's last leg I don't think I would repurchase at the regular price.

Have you tried any of these brush or have another favorite for detangling? Please share in the comments! :)

Transitioner's Corner | What Have I Been Doing with My Hair Lately?

Hello there! I have been MIA yet again. I get so mad at myself when I've been away to long. I enjoy blogging, but sometimes "I just don't feel like it" *in my whiny voice*. When I get home from a long day of work and whatever else I've had to do, I just want to relax.  Getting on my laptop after sitting at a computer all day is the last thing I feel like doing when I get home, even for enjoyment. But I do like when I keep up with what's going on with me and my hair because I like to have that record that I can go back an revisit later on.

I'm usually pretty boring with my hair but I have been trying a few things here and there to switch things up a bit. I rarely stray from my everyday bun, but every now and again I get an itch to try something different.  I was going through some old photos (that I had intended to post) and thought I'd share them here.  I will occassionally post something on Instagram every now and again, so if you follow me you may have already seen some of these styles.  By the way don't forget to follow me on Instagram if you don't already....just click HERE! :)

Perm Rod Set

When I tell you I was super proud of this set. I'm getting pretty good at my perm rod sets. Now I just need to speed up. If I could get them done quicker, I'd do a perm rod set every wash day!

Curly Bang and Puff

I tried this style on a rod set that was on it's last legs. Trying to make it to wash day. I thought it was pretty cute.

High Bun

This is how I usually where my hair when I don't feel like doing anything to it. I need to switch the position of my bun, but I just love a nice top bun!

Ironed Straight

I straightened my hair again back in December. I couldn't help it. My hair looks so much thicker which I'm pretty stoked about.  I didn't do an official length check since the one I did in October. I'm trying not to worry about it so much and I wanting to d a bit of a cut (not quite the big chop) in the next few months. I'm almost ready to get rid of the bones straight ends, but may hang on to the texlaxed hair for a little longer.

Twisted Updo

I am rarely one to try something off the top of my head. Well let me rephrase that. I try something, realize I hate it, then take it down and put it in a bun. LOL! I am not the most creative when it comes to styling, but I though this look was kind of cute.

Twist Out on Blow Dried Hair

I really liked how this style turned out. I got fairly decent definition using the Carol's Daughter Styling Creme.  I did not wet my hair. I think I did about 8 or 9 twists from from front to back. Oh and I played with a little lipstick. I have no makeup skills y'all.

So this is what I've been doing with my transitioning hair lately. Trying not to be so boring with my hair now that I've finally gained some thickness and length as compared to the start of my journey.  Although, I do still have more boring hair days that not. Lol. I am about 98 weeks post currently and still haven't decided on doing the big chop. I say why jump if I can continue to maintain as I have.

Is anyone else over in Transitioner's Corner with me?
How long did you transition before the big chop?

Product Review | Annabelle's Perfect Blends Moisturizing Hair Cream

Annabelle's Moisturizing Hair Cream

Price for 4 oz. Jar:  $10.00 via the Perfect Blends Etsy Shop
I actually won this product in a Giveaway hosted by Relaxed Therapy. Thanks, Jay! ;)

Aqua (Water), Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Linum usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Oil, Cannabis sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, Cetyl Alcohol, Sodium Lactate, Pathenol (Vitamin B5), Diazolidinyl Urea and Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Fragrance

Our rich and creamy Hair Crème will add moisture and shine to the driest hair! This crème can be used on damp or dry hair daily without weighing it down. Whether your hair is natural, permed, or relaxed, you will love the results!

This creme can also be used on the body!

My Experience:

Let me start off by saying that this product is awesome! I think that it sticks to the promise of adding "moisture and shine to the driest hair."  During the week when my hair is feeling kind of dry, I just reach for this little jar and it works wonders for my thirsty strands.

The product has a thick, creamy, whipped consistency, and it smells absolutely amazing.  I chose the Birthday Cake scent for mine, but there are 69 different scents to choose from. I love that there are so many options. The birthday cake scent is true to smell. I could almost eat it, it smells so good.

I have used this product as both a moisturizer and a leave-in and my hair loves it.  When I first apply this product to my dry hair, it does kind of sit on top of my hair. I have to rub it in a bit to get it to absorb. Once absorbed my hair feel super soft.  I like to focus on my nape my edges and my ends which need the most TLC. This product is especially great during the colder months in my opinion.

Annabelle's Hair Creme is also great as a leave-in. I feel like it absorbs well with my damp hair.  It also has very nice slip, so I had no problem detangling my hair.  This is another plus with my transitioning hair. I am all about anything that helps with detangling. This product contains BTMS (behentrimonium methosulfate) which is know for it's slip factor.
It is also stated that this product can be used on the body as well.  I actually didn't realize this until preparing this review. I haven't used it on my skin, but I will definitely have to try it out.

Great product with amazing ingredients, lovely scent, and awesome results as promised.

Have you tried this product? What did you think of it? Have you tried it as a moisturizer for your skin. Please share your experience  or a link to your review in the comments below.

My Goodies Have Arrived - Black Friday Buys

So I told you guys about my Black Friday purchases back in this post over here.  I must say that my goodies arrived quicker than I expected and I am beyond excited. The product junkie in me is squealing with excitement. Bahaha! Most of my purchases are items I have not tried; and waiting for Black Friday was a great way to do it.  I got some really good deals, so if they end up not working for me, I won't feel so bad about how much I spent on it. I do have high hopes for these products though. Now without further ado, let's check out my goodies!

My tgin package arrived on that Monday after Black Friday. I was pleasantly surprised when I got home.  I had no idea that my package would arrive so quickly When they said Super Fast shipping on their site, they weren't kidding!
I purchased their Butter Cream Daily Moisturizer and repurchased the Honey Miracle Hair Mask.  I also added the travel size Organic African Shea Butter to my cart to qualify for the free shipping.  I know that I like the Hair Mask so I'm really hoping the Moisturizer will be a win for me too.

True by Made Beautiful
My True products just arrived today.  I am so siced to try these all natural hair goodies. I am just sure I'm going to love them,... or at least I hope! For black Friday all products on their site were available for $5.00 each. I couldn't decided which item to try, everything sounded so amazing.  I decided to order each of the 7 products in the line.

Here is what I got:

1.  Co Wash Cleansing Conditioner
2.  Moisturizing Shampoo
3.  Nourishing Leave-In Conditioner
4.  Conditioning Styling Cream
5.  Hydrating Hair Butter
6.  Intense Treatment Masque
7.  Quench Curl Refresher

Usually I'd be ready to use my new products on the very next wash, but I want to wait until I've used up a few other items before opening and using these. Definitely be sure to stay tuned to find out my thoughts on these goodies. It won't be too long before I do.

Who else has got some Black Friday or Cyber Monday goodies to dish about?
What did you buy
Did anyone else take advantage of the True by Made Beautiful or TGIN sale?

As always, thanks so much for reading!
